From clboehm at mac.com Fri Jan 4 08:35:45 2008 From: clboehm at mac.com (Chris Boehm) Date: Fri Jan 4 08:36:09 2008 Subject: [PrintShare] Imposition Proofing Question Message-ID: Our imposition proofer, a Spinjet on a HP Inkjet printer, is not going to be covered by a service contract after Jan 31st. It is getting old, lots of service calls on it, has been 100% covered under service contract. The upper management does not want to replace it because it is $30,000. What they want us to do is make reduced imposition proofs and fold and cut them down instead. I do not think this is wise, but cant fight city hall. In my opinion, it only takes a couple of jobs that are imposed incorrectly that need reprinted, and you have paid for it. My question is, what are other shops doing to check their impositions? Thanks greatly in advance. We do a insert for a french fry place, we use a food based ink that is very expensive google food grade ink and you should find the company. Now that I think about it, there are probably more chemicals in the paper than in the ink we use, we use a butcher paper of sorts. But the fries go on the paper directly... Humm That said, there are huge flexograpic places that do it for mickydees, but you are talking 100,000 minimum type of stuff. Maybe I am getting cynical in my old age, but I get people calling me wanting really cool stuff, but they are thinking that it is a nickel a sheet, and they can buy them 100 at a time. Will not happen. Did you know that the bucket that the movie theatre puts popcorn in... costs MORE than the popcorn? Just one of the costs of doing business. Why did I throw that little tidbit in? I have NO idea, just getting old. brad Brad Potter Your Printing Super Hero 3480 SE Bethel, Suite A Port Orchard, WA 98366 360.876.5350 voice 360.876.5615 fax -- bpprinter@aol.com wrote: *** This is a PrintShare List Message *** We are looking for someone who prints the thin paper inserts that would go in a basket of french fries or under a sandwich at a deli.
