Print management computer files are kept indefinitely. If too many too
handle, then save a complete copy off site, then purge the inhouse copy
of outdated files. This compacted data file will be the current file
for daily use. Our data file is only a few hundred Mb after 8 years.

The purging is of the chipboard plate/film bags. Upon a re-order, the
bag is emptied of out-of-date film and plates prior to being passed to
pre-press or pressroom. Periodically, we trash any film/plate bag which
job has not rerun for some years from the storage racks. The electronic
files, however, remain.
