Print management computer files are kept indefinitely. If too many too 
handle, then save a complete copy off site, then purge the inhouse copy 
of outdated files. This compacted data file will be the current file 
for daily use. Our data file is only a few hundred Mb after 8 years.

The purging is of the chipboard plate/film bags. Upon a re-order, the 
bag is emptied of out-of-date film and plates prior to being passed to 
pre-press or pressroom. Periodically, we trash any film/plate bag which 
job has not rerun for some years from the storage racks. The electronic 
files, however, remain.
