Robin,

This is going to sound odd but I have had this happen in my shop.
Have them open the document again and save as a PDF to a different file
name. It tends to work for me will look great on screen go to a printer and
it gives me smiley faces and boxes, pictures out of color range. First time
it happened I was not so smiley faced the girl ran the whole job never
looking at the copy outputting.

	Oh well lesson learned.

***** This is a PrintOwners List Message *****

We did the layout and design of a full page ad being run in our local
newspaper -- customer was a local non-profit group and they did not
trust the paper to do it the way they wanted, so they paid us to get
it exactly as they wanted. Took the pdf file down the street yesterday
and their "layout" person as they called her, popped the CD into the
side of her Mac monitor, opened the pdf and wham! She was thrilled to
pieces and she was very complimentary -- she said everything was "good
to go".
Today, 4:30pm, we get a phone call from the advertising person saying
there was a problem with the file. When THEY printed (on what I don't
know), they were getting either black boxes or white boxes instead of
one of the headlines and a couple of the pictures.
QUESTION: this is a pdf file and it was correctly composed. I have
MUCH more confidence in my staff's capabilities than the newspaper's
staff. So, before we contact them tomorrow, thought I would get some
input from the collective wisdom on this list.
Yes, we are a pc shop and the newspaper is a mac shop. But the pdf
opened perfectly ON HER SCREEN.
Advertising person said she had some notes about, "turning off
hyperlinks before creating the pdf and screen fonts not being
available"?
Like I said, I have a competent and knowledgeable staff -- THEY DO
NOT. So, what's the scoop.

p.s. we printed numerous proofs on our epson 7600 and they printed
quickly and easily with everything, headlines and photos, printing as
designed.
