I emailed Steve and this is some of what I got, with my view on this. I
cross posted this as both lists have talked about it.

This is a great new product upgrade here are some facts:

1. AccuZIP Inc. is providing the most significant upgrade in their 16-year
history FREE.

2. AccuZIP6 5.0 contains some new, very powerful features FREE.

3. AccuZIP6 5.0 is PAVE Certified for more presorts and presort options than
any other postal software product on the market, including MailManager 2010,
BulkMailer, Mailers+4, SmartMailer, etc...

4. The have great service and support, users receive this at no additional
charge.

5. AccuZIP Inc. has reduced the fee 50% additional licenses

6. AccuZIP6 Inc. is the only NCOALink Licensee in the nation that offers
unlimited access to both NCOALink and ANKLink for one flat fee.

7. Yearly fees stayed the same; no raise just a better product that does
more for FREE.

8. Added the Script Monitor to the software free (BCC Mail Manager charges
$3,000 for this one feature).

9. Unlimited access to NCOALink (the only company in the nation that offers
unlimited access to NCOALink)

10. New support for Bound Printed Matter Flats, Machinable and Irregular
Parcels, Standard Mail Customized Market Mail and Irregular Parcels,
Periodical Firm Sortation (BCC charges an additional $500 for that feature),
Multiple Drop Shipment for Standard Mail, Bound Printed Matter and
Periodicals, including printing the PS8125 forms, all are included free.

I spoke with a user of postalsoft who is switching to Accuzip. Last year he
paid over $8000 and did not get NCOA or most of the other new features. This
year he is paying less than $2000 for, NCOA, 2 seats, and those new free
mailing options they do not provide.

Now compare this to my friends at EFI. They raised yearly fees to $1000 from
$400. We got a small upgrade and even worse service. If you need any extra
seats you pay $999 to do that (raised from $399) they did offer some of new
features (reportwriter, tracker, scheduler, printsmithsite) but all at an
extra cost ($2000+ each). In fact if you want service NOW you have to pay
extra or wait for them to call you back sometimes days later. Oh almost
forgot EFI also charges you for back service you never used if do not keep
paying them, as extortion to get back on service.

Steve is giving us a FREE print version to drive our addressors. He is
giving us away to use a flash drive to activate and move the software when
we want to. You can even log-in remote I like I do. Thank god he did have
dinner or drinks with anyone at EFI, and then we really would be screwed!

Last I spend the most time doing things like merging, standardizing lists,
exporting break outs and de-duping. You could still do that in an old copy
of 4 and then open it on 5, validate and presort.

This is a pretty fair way to recoup the costs from users who are using multi
copies and freeloading on the rest of the users. I would much rather pay for
what I use, than pay for users who do not pay for their share.
