Danny

A spectrometer came with our equipment but as far as I can
tell calibrating doesn't usually make much difference

Sometimes it's hard to tell if the tech is inexperienced or
if he just doesn't want to replace parts. They have these engineering
specs that tell them when parts are supposed to be replaced, and
sometimes it doesn't matter what the machine is doing in reality,
they won't replace the parts until the specs tell them to. Another
thing they want to do is to not to the 100,000 click maintenance when
it rolls around because they say they have replaced all the parts already.

At some companies the service manager's salary depends
quite heavily on how many parts are used and the techs have
incentives to not replace parts too. I don't know if this applies to
Konica Minolta. I don't think they will tell you if you ask.

We've been pretty happy with the C500. It runs and runs and
the quality is good. We have, however, had some infuriating
confrontations re service and replacing parts.

If you have the inboard rip you can adjust colors, and
create color profiles, through the server. Server > Profile Manager >
Edit. This works very well.
