That time of the month again? Time for another round of "attack this
list because it isn't what I want." At the top of this list is either
archive or attachments. Today's topic because it seem to always
evolve to this...attachments!

>Besides easy search and access to the valuable experience base that
>our archives represent, other readily available features that one
>might find advantageous in a forum of this kind are: the ability to
>include attachments that help illustrate or explain; the ability for
>participants to upload and share useful files in a centralized
>location; the ability to post, and view others', valuable finds and
>helpful articles; the ability to view all posts in a thread, old or
>current, on a dedicated website; the ability to utilize rich
>formatting for clearer communications or just the personal touch.

I hope the not allowing attachment doesn't change. The only use I
ever see on other lists for being able to allow attachments is for
posting pointless jokes, unrelated articles, and pictures. The
occasional attachment sent to the whole list for one person, or
someone asking, what font is this. I have rarely seen an attachment
sent to any email list that was a true benefit to the other
subscribers. The worst is those cute signature attachment graphics.
Then someone quotes them and you have two copies, another quote you
get 3 more, etc. Every time they post you get another copy. Before
long you have 30, 40, 50 copies of some ones cute signature logo
graphic. I solved the problem by having all attachments from other
email list dump directly into the trash rather than have them take up
space on the computer. As for rich formatting, I just delete the
messages in 4 point light blue type, can't read it...don't need it!
Fancy formatting text is good for a brochure, too hard to read and a
waste of time in email.
